The Fight Inside

This was originally a piece by a friend of mine, but he gave me the rights and let me redo the piece. I liked this piece because it's something that everybody can relate to. We all have struggles that we deal with every single day. Many of them nobody else even knows about. They tear at us from inside. Maybe it's guilt. Maybe it's depression. Whatever it is, we all have something to deal with. We can't continue to beat ourselves up over the past, or worry ourselves to death over the future. The past is nothing but lessons, and the future is nothing but waiting opportunities. The only way we can win this fight is to deal with it straight on. We can't run from it and expect it to go away. These fights and burdens are moments that we should learn from. Without learning from the past, we can't fix the present to create a better future. Somebody once said that anxiety is a side affect of a sense of uselessness. We worry about our future because we haven't done anything in the moment to make it better. We feel stressed and worry to the point that we're pulling our hair out. We tell ourselves that we have too much on our plate to deal with. Take a moment to really look at what's on your plate. What have you done to better yourself? What is your purpose? Until we have something to fight for, we feel hopeless. We try to passively look for answers instead of actually doing something about our problems. Look for something to fight for instead of fighting the past. We need to learn to take the worst in ourselves, and change what we can now so that we can have a better tomorrow. Make a list if you have to. Get a calendar and lay out what you're going to do each day to reach your end goal. Don't look at life passively and hope everything comes together someday. Make it happen, starting today. Take the charge and do what you want. Overcome your self doubt. Your worry. Your regret. It sounds cliché

, but it's true that the first step is the most important one. It's the scariest, but it's the one that gets you moving forward and gets you to believe that you can overcome whatever it is that's going on inside. Find someone who can help and support you. Maybe that's a friend, or maybe it's a therapist. We all need somebody else so that we can all fight together.
